Violet aims to secure the Quad title at the Monte Gordo Beach Race

Violet aims to secure the Quad title at the Monte Gordo Beach Race: The Monte Gordo Sand Race, the fifth round of the 2024 FIM Sand Races World Cup, will take place this weekend (22-24 November) in Portugal.

Pablo Violet, who leads the Quad class, is excited to race in Algarve with the title nearly within his grasp.

After finishing second last year, the 22-year-old is determined to win this time. With a 25-point lead and 50 points still available in the final two rounds, he knows that finishing 15th or higher this weekend would be enough to secure the championship. However, he plans to stick to his usual approach and not overthink things.

“I try not to think too much before and during races because it can distract you,” he said. “I stay focused on my training, which is key to success. For the final two races, I’m going to give it my all, just like I did in the first two.”

Violet started the season strong with two wins in February—one at his home race, the Enduropale du Touquet Pas-de-Calais in France, and the other at the Enduro del Verano in Argentina. He continued to perform well with second place at the Ronde des Sables de Loon-Plage in France in late October and third at the Bibione Sand Storm in Italy earlier this month.

Last year, Violet was heartbroken to lose the title by just two points to his fellow French rider Michel Trannin. This year, he’s determined not to make the same mistake.

“I was really sad, and it took me a while to get over it. I put so much effort into it, and it was tough to hold back my emotions,” Violet explained. “But I learned a lot from that loss. It made me reflect and grow, helping me become a better rider. This time, I approached the championship with a calmer mindset and more confidence.”

Violet has been training hard with his Drag’on Yamaha team and coach to improve every aspect of his racing. He believes that victory is determined by the smallest details.

Currently studying business at college in Paris, Violet followed in the footsteps of his father and uncle, who both raced. He got his first motorcycle for Christmas at the age of three and started riding quads when he was seven.

“My father’s best friend is Axel Dutrie, who leads the Quad Veteran class. Axel owns Drag’on Distribution, a well-known quad tuner. He has always helped me get the best quads, which made me more competitive than I was on a bike. That’s when I decided to focus on racing quads,” Violet said.

The Monte Gordo race weekend starts tomorrow (Saturday) with the opening Moto race at 12:45 PM (local time) and the Quad race at 3:30 PM (local time). On Sunday, the Moto race will start at 1:45 PM, followed by the Quad race at 3:30 PM.
