FIM Announces 2025 SBK Rule Updates

The SBK Commission met on October 18, 2025, at Circuit de Jerez – Angel Nieto and approved several key changes for the FIM Superbike, Supersport, Sportbike, and Women’s Circuit Racing World Championships.

WorldSBK Class:

  • The Commission approved updated FIM homologation rules for motorcycles.

  • New fuel flow regulations were introduced: manufacturers carrying over previous limits may face up to a 0.5 kg/h penalty or gain a 0.5 kg/h concession, depending on performance.

  • If a manufacturer shows a major performance advantage, the FIM may impose an additional 0.5 kg/h reduction.

  • Each manufacturer or team is now limited to using two FIM-approved fuels per season.

WorldSportbike Class (from 2026):

  • A new entry-level championship was approved, with strong manufacturer interest.

  • Riders must be at least 16 years old. The maximum age is 25 for new riders and 28 for experienced ones transitioning from WorldSSP300 or the Women’s Circuit Racing Championship.

  • From 2026, all riders in the Sportbike category can compete until age 28.

  • WorldSSP and WorldSPB grids will be capped at 34 riders, including one Wild Card entry.

Additional updates were made to the Sporting, Disciplinary, and Medical Codes.
All resolutions have been approved by the Permanent Bureau.
