Alpine’s 2026 Driver Decision Pending

Alpine F1 Team is currently evaluating potential candidates to partner Pierre Gasly for the 2026 Formula 1 season. Gasly, who has a contract with Alpine until the end of 2028, has shown strong performances in recent races. Franco Colapinto, currently driving for Alpine, has demonstrated improvement, outqualifying Gasly in three of the last four races. However, Colapinto has yet to score points in the 2025 season, which raises questions about his future with the team.

Alpine’s management, under new director Steve Nielsen, is considering internal options for the second seat, including Colapinto, Jack Doohan, and reserve driver Paul Aron. Nielsen has praised Colapinto’s recent performances but emphasizes the need for more time to make a final decision. The team aims to assess whether Colapinto’s improved form is sustainable before committing to a contract extension.

In summary, Alpine is carefully evaluating its options for the 2026 season, balancing the potential of current drivers with the need for consistent performance.
